I would oppose the extension of the SR 710 in any form. The tunnel is not the correct solution to the need to move goods from the ports to the Western United States. Trains would move these goods faster, cheaper, and with less threat to our environment. The tunnel will not resolve the congestion on the north-south arterials in our community according to a study of the Southern California Council of Governments. The tunnel is an economic and health disaster for our City. We must build a coalition with La Canada Flintridge, Glendale, Pasadena, Burbank, and the communities of Northeast Los Angeles to influence the legislature in Sacramento to remove the SR710 from the State Highway map.

Our town is plagued with shuttered and empty buildings. Major businesses are leaving our City. I would work to revitalize our business community and to rebuild the downtown so it could be enjoyed by all. A strong business community means we will have the revenue to address the needs of our crumbling infrastructure.

Traffic calming, a better more efficient way to move traffic through our streets, is a concept I embrace and which I would encourage. Traffic calming and other parts of the Multi Mode Low Build concept is what is needed to relieve the congestion on our streets.

Seniors need more support in our City. The senior Center does a good job, but it could do a great job. New and more innovative goals must be set to better the lives of our senior citizens.
