La Caņada resident Neal Millard recently retired from the international law firm of White & Case to begin a practice devoted almost entirely to education at Musick Peeler & Garrett. Having traveled around the world in his work as the head of White & Case's West Coast real estate practice, he feels fortunate to now focus his career capstone in the one area that he loves most: education. "I hope to spend the next number of years working professionally on matters that will improve education and provide better opportunities for all children, regardless of economic background," notes the LCUSD School Board candidate.

Neal's legal career has included practices in the area of international finance and real estate, representing foreign and domestic financial institutions. He has also practiced in the area of education, representing private and public institutions of learning. In this arena, he has been involved in financings, real estate acquisition, grant documentation and leasing transactions for such renowned charter schools as Alliance for College-Ready Public Education, KIPP, Aspire, Green Dot Public Schools, Watts Learning Center, Camino Nuevo, Rocketship and Lighthouse.

Prior to joining White & Case in 1993, Neal was a partner in Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue where he was the national head of that firm's lending group. He has been a featured speaker at the Practising Law Institute, the California Continuing Education section of the California Bar, CLE International and the Bank Lending Institute. He is currently an Adjunct Professor of Law at the USC Law Center where he teaches international finance. Neal is listed in The Best Lawyers in America.

Neal received his A.B. cum laude from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) where he was a member of Pi Gamma Mu and Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his J.D. from the University of Chicago.
