"X Commitment to Education: Appointed to the Pomona School Board in 2008 to fill the seat vacated by the passing of Nancy J. McCracken, a long time school board member. It has been my honor and pleasure to serve as your representative to PUSD.

PUSD has made great progress. The November passage of School Bond Measure PS made possible the refurbishment of many schools this summer, and air conditioning of our oldest school, Lincoln Elementary. Innovative educational programs have been created and schools have been reconfigured to meet the needs of students and parents. Voted to use federal funding to save teachers' jobs.

The terrible cuts in education funding from Sacramento will create serious problems, but by working together we can meet the challenge.

Ms. Konigar-Macklin has fought hard in Sacramento to secure and maintain funding for kids. She has conducted roundtable discussions with legislators and has been a very vocal advocate for the rights of school children and their parents. She has been an active parent in Diamond Bar and Pomona youth sports and academic organizations. She has called for investigations into fraud and waste in school districts. She has received several honors from state and local legislators and has been recognized throughout the State of California for her efforts to improve education for all children and for her community service.

I hope I have earned your trust for a full term on the Board.
