Candidate's Statement

By Brad Cooke

Candidate for Board of Directors; La Habra Heights County Water District

This information is provided by the candidate
Avoiding rate increases, maintaining capital reserves and, above all, increasing water for fire protection are my top goals. Under my leadership, your Water District continues to meet these goals. The District is financially strong and stable. If re-elected, I will continue the policies to meet these goals by providing leadership, experience and business sense without politics.

I am seeking re-election to the Board because of my desire and willingness to be involved in and contribute to our community. My education, business experience and tenure on the Board make me uniquely qualified to continue to serve you.

  • Economics, BA degree, Occidental College
  • President, Board of Directors, La Habra Heights County Water District
  • President and Director of engineering contracting firm
  • Cubmaster and Den Leader, Pack 747
  • Director, AGC

During my time on the Board, I led the development and implementation of the Master Plan, which describes the improvements to make our system a state-of-the-art fire protection water system. We have constructed several million dollars of improvements to the water system, increased the water supply for fire protection, and maintained capital reserves without raising rates. Tank #9 is now being constructed which will provide an additional 1.3 million gallons of water supply for fire protection to the East Heights. I saved over $100,000 through redesign of the reservoir projects.

My top priorities are:

  • Increase our water capacity for fire protection
  • Maintain sound fiscal policy and capital reserves to avoid rate increases
  • Provide safe and reliable supply of quality water

I grew up in La Habra Heights. Vicki, my wife, and I are raising our family here and plan to live in the Heights a long time. Our children are third generation Heights residents. We love it here.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve you on the Water Board.
