Candidate for
Member, Board of Education; Pelham Union Free School District

This information is provided by the candidate

I have lived in Pelham for 16 years with my wife Lauren and our four children John, Catherine, Caroline and Emily.

We have been involved in our community since arriving, at first as a coach/volunteer for a variety of different sports/initiatives. In 2002 I founded the Pelham Music Festival which now has over 400 student participants each year and facilitates student performances at local health care facilities (Sound Shore, Osborne, Calvary, Burke, NYP-Westchester), at the Pelham Country Club and in NYC (Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, TimesCenter). This year we took on 20 economically disadvantaged kids (lessons, performance attire, registration fees) to help spread the value of music to those unable to participate for monetary reasons. I still serve as President of the Pelham Music Festival.

In 2006 I was elected to the Pelham Board of Education. I am currently Vice President of our Board and Chair of the Construction Committee. I also serve on the Personnel, Finance, Strategic Planning and Field committees. I have also served on the Audit and Student Life Committees. In my time on the Board we have adopted our Strategic Plan, passed a public referendum-which will rehabilitate our aging infrastructure and have seen student performance (both academic and co curricular) improve to the highest levels.

I am a Management Consultant by occupation and I lead the New York Office of Towers Perrin, a large global consulting firm. My area of expertise is Human Resources, and I advise our clients on the design, funding and administration of compensation and employee benefit plans. As our District's budget is roughly 80% compensation and employee benefits, I bring a unique set of skills to our discussions on HR issues.

I believe my Board, community and work experience makes me an excellent candidate for re-election.
