Community outreachBy Steve MickCandidate for Member, Town Council; Proposed Town of Alamo | |

The community must remain fully informed about their local governmentI have a record of outreach and communication to the community. I started and run the http://www.alamore.org website which provides information on community meetings & events, Alamo parks & trails, advisory committees, and links to local organizations. This website has seen over 13,000 visitors since its inception over two years ago. I initiated and serve as liaison for the ALIVE in Alamo column published each month in ALIVE East Bay Magazine. Through the kindness of Eric Johnson, the publisher, several Alamo groups have had the opportunity to write about their activities. I currently serve on a number of advisory committees that reach out to Alamo residents to ensure that the county government knows our concerns and issues. The volunteers serving on these committees have significant knowledge and experience which must not be lost when Alamo becomes a town. If elected, I will resign from these committees. However, I will vote to keep all of them intact and charter them to be advisory and oversight bodies to the town council in their specialty areas. This will ensure that the entire community will have a number of communication and feedback mechanisms. The costs would be minimal and the value to our town would be substantial. In the future, and as the needs of the town dictate, I would also support the formation of new committees. Some possibilities are: seniors, youth, cultural arts, and heritage preservation. |
