? 1. What, if anything, do you believe the federal government should do to control global climate change?

Answer from Bill Durston, MD:

I believe the Federal Government should develop a cap and trade system to limit greenhouse gas emissions.

? 2. What should the federal government do, if anything, to ensure that every American has health coverage?

Answer from Bill Durston, MD:

As an Emergency Physician, it's always been my philosophy that access to necessary medical care is a basic human right, not a privilege based on one's ability to pay. I support the approach to universal care outlined in HR 676 - Expanding Medicare-like coverage to Americans of all ages.

? 3. What, if anything, should the federal government do about immigration?

Answer from Bill Durston, MD:

We should adopt policies based upon reason and understanding, not the politics of hatred and fear. I support a facilitated guest worker program, improved working standards on both sides of the U.S./Mexican Border, and a pathway to legal residence for undocumented immigrants living peaceful, productive lives.

Responses to questions asked of each candidate are reproduced as submitted to the League.
