Candidate StatementI am running for re-election to the Windsor Unified School District. Had you asked me four years ago whether I would ever consider such a thing I would have said an emphatic no! Yet, here I am. I find my position on the board to be one of the most rewarding parts of my life. My two boys started kindergarten at Mattie Washburn and will graduate and have graduated from Windsor High School. Our cluster school configuration has allowed parents and children in our district to grow up together. Our town is still small enough to make that hugely rewarding on a personal and educational level. I know most of these families personally and I am emotionally attached to all of them. It makes my job on the board curiously addicting. In the past four years I have participated in the explosion of the student population, fluctuating programs and personnel, bond planning, presentation and passage, changes in site principals, site accreditation inspections and the honor of site awards, angry parents, happy kids, angry kids, happy parents, and a learning curve that would choke a horse. And I love it. I am hoping I am allowed to continue. |
