I firmly believe in Paso Robles and support our community with a clear vision, guided by common sense and decision-making that is well thought out and researched. Sir Winston Churchill said, "Sometimes our best is simply not enough...We have to do what is required."

I believe that we must plan for our future today, not wait for tomorrow. Our adopted 2003 General Plan guides us with a blueprint for the next 20 years. The Town Center/Uptown Specific Plan leads us into a direction for the next 3 - 4 decades. The Urban Water Management Plan is based on 2025 and beyond. We cannot dwell on the past, but must not forget our proud history and strong work ethic. We need to insure we have a plan for careful and managed growth, truly a place we can all live, recreate and work together.

I will insist the necessary infrastructure be well thought out and planned. Our current citizens will pay their fair share of development and water fees, etcetera, but will not have to carry the burden of providing monies for future residents. Housing, employment, educational and recreational opportunities as well as concerns with water, sewer and our natural resources must be considered and planned.

I am an elected official--a place held by a few hundred thousand among America's millions. Chosen by a majority to lead, I am empowered to act in the public interest. I have occasionally been judged wrong, sometimes toasted, and sometimes roasted, yet, having taken counsel and pondered, I shall continue to move us forward. My compensation goes far beyond a fair salary. It is to serve our community in a profession where no professional training is required, yet where CHARACTER, CANDOR, CONVICTION AND HONESTY are prerequisites. These past eight years I have found that difficult situations often bring out qualities in all of us that otherwise might not have risen to the surface, such as COURAGE, FAITH, and our need for one another. The earthquake in 2003 is such an example. It is my hope that you will share my vision for Paso Robles with your vote of confidence in me on November 4th.
