Given the State's current budget crisis, community colleges will be facing some major challenges for the next coming years. I am the only and most qualified candidate to meet these challenges. I bring the experience and sound fiscal knowledge that will be required to lead the college through these very difficult economic times.

I am the only candidate that has a proven track record of sound fiscal management of multi-million dollar budgets during hard fiscal times; at both the college and K-12 level. Under my tenure at Southwestern College, as well as at the Coronado Unified School District, the districts' budgets have been successfully balanced with minimal impact to district operations, student programs or services, and no staff or faculty laid-offs.

Moreover, I bring years of experience and knowledge at all levels of education, not only as a lifelong educator, but as a policy maker. As an experienced Board Trustee at Southwestern Community College, I have successfully advocated in Sacramento for Southwestern Community College's fair share of state funding.

I also have a proven track record of overseeing the successful management of Southwestern Community College's $89 million voter-approved Prop AA bond: facility and improvement projects have come within budget, and on time as promised to voters.

It is my goal and commitment to continue to protect the investments we have made in the recent years, and to continue to meet the needs of our students, communities and hardworking faculty and staff.

I will continue to seek quality, innovative and accessible educational programs and services that promote student learning, basic skills and student career opportunities; and I will continue to work with Legislators to ensure our fair share of state funding - specifically in these hard state economic times.
