)Economic viability - A vibrant and sustainable local economy creates jobs and provides a decent standard of living for all Encinitas residents. In order to provide municipal services city government must foster and maintain a diverse business community and stable tax base.

)Environmental sustainability - Conservation, preservation and restoration benefit everyone. A sustainable Encinitas will create policy respecting the integrity of natural eco-systems, utilize renewable natural resources to benefit an energy efficient economy and make water conservation a top priority. Encinitas City Council should consider ecological balance while acknowledging the biological limits of our community.

)Wise growth - To accommodate expected population increases and adapt to a changing world all future development should be planned with mass transit in mind and incorporate green building design in the planning process . Mixed use residential zoning should be encouraged in commercial areas and any changes to the general plan should be subject to voter approval.

)Quality of life - Planning and maintaining infrastructure is the primary task of Encinitas City government. Fire and lifeguard services, police protection, water resources, transportation corridors, sanitation and public safety should always be given top priority by the Encinitas City Council. Parks and beach amenities, arts and recreation, open space and trails are also vital to an improved quality of life and should be funded as resources permit.

)Preserve Encinitas - Encinitas, a world class destination, is blessed by ideal climatic conditions, proximity to the Pacific Ocean and two ecologically viable coastal estuaries. Making Encinitas a great place to visit but an even better place to live. The Encinitas City Council should responsibly promote and protect the long-standing character of Encinitas' five distinct communities while positioning Encinitas to capitalize on eco-tourism. Keeping Olivenhain rural is as important as keeping Leucadia funky, Downtown vibrant, Cardiff casual, and New Encinitas family focused.
