I am a native San Diegan. I have lived in the Cajon Valley district for 21 years. I have been married to the same man for 36 years. Our two sons attended El Cajon schools: Crest Elementary, Greenfield Middle School and Granite Hills High School. Upon rebuilding our home after the Cedar Fire, I decided to retire. I retired from the Cajon Valley School District in 2007 after completing 34 years of teaching. I taught at Cajon Valley Middle School for one year and then spent 21 years at Montgomery and finished my career with 12 years at Hillsdale Middle School. During my career, I served on many District committees providing me with exposure to the various budgetary and curriculum aspects of the district in addition to the many challenges associated with teaching. I continue to be involved with students in Crest with my volunteer efforts at the Crestridge Ecological Reserve. Additionally I organized the 2008 San Diego County Middle School Track & Field Meet, the only S.D.County event of its kind for middle school students. My volunteer activity outside of education dates back to keeping score for Rios Canyon Little League teams, Breast Cancer 3 Day participant (`01) and a 3 day Crew Volunteer (`06). On a lighter note, I was a Leaderboard Captain at the recent U.S. Open at Torrey Pines and I founded the Crest Women's Lawnchair Brigade, a marching group that participates in many S.D. County area parades.
