Lieutenant Archie McAllister, USN (Ret.)

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, LT McAllister immigrated to the U.S. with his family in 1949, settling in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from high school in June 1958 and joined the Navy shortly after. He was assigned to Photographer's Mate Basic School and graduated first in his class. His first assignment was to Naval Air Station Port Lyautey, Kenitra, French Morocco.

Advancing quickly through the ranks, he was promoted to Chief Photographer's Mate in 1969. He was selected to Warrant Officer and later to Lieutenant. He attended Pensacola Junior College and earned an AA degree in Television Production and later graduated from the University of Southern California in 1978 with a BA in Cinematography. Upon graduation, he reported as Motion Picture Officer, Navy Reruiting Command, Arlington, Virginia. His shipboard duties were aboard the USS ESSEX CVS-9, USS NEWPORT NEWS CA-148 and the USS KITTY HAWK CV-63. His other overseas assignments include Officer in Charge, Fleet Air Photographic Lab, Cubi Point, Philippines and as an Exchange Officer in the Royal Navy at Portsmouth, England. He had two tours of duty in Washington, D.C and served as a Navy Recruiter in Detroit, Michigan. His final tour was with Combat Camera Group Pacific, San Diego, CA where he retired with 28 years of active duty.

He is now a high school substitute teacher in Chula Vista, CA. He has been married for 45 years and has two children and four grandchilren
