My name is Dr. Dan Lopez and I am a candidate for the Ramona Unified School District School Board. As a parent of two students attending school in the Ramona Unified School District, I am driven by a strong desire to promote academic and social success for every student. I have worked as a teacher and administrator for 14 years in both the San Diego Unified School District and Poway Unified School District. I hold a BA in Business Administration, MA in Education, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Management. I also served for ten years, six as President, on the Board of Directors of the California League of Middle Schools, the largest middle level reform organization in the state. I believe that my passion for this community, coupled with my knowledge in the field of education makes me a candidate with the ability to drive positive change for our district.

I wanted to provide my children a similar childhood to what I experienced as a boy growing up in Julian. When it became time for my wife and I to start our family, Ramona was the obvious choice. I understand and cherish the family oriented values that this community still respects today.

I have lived in Ramona for nine years and have worked to be an active member of the community. I have served as both a volunteer soccer and baseball coach for my sons, on the very same fields I played on as a boy. I have also served on school district committees and as a classroom volunteer over the last three years. This has allowed me the opportunity to work with some of the fine students, parents, and staff from this district.
