Qualifications and Experience

By Jerry Kaufman

Candidate for Board Member; Palomar Pomerado Health System; Unexpired Short Term

This information is provided by the candidate
I am a fiscally conservative healthcare professional with a strong background in community service, as well as service to my profession at both district and state levels.
After graduating from University of southern California with a Masters degree in Physical Therapy, I practiced in Los Angeles and Orange Counties before moving to San Diego County in 1983. I have worked in hospital and home settings, as well as in private practice since coming to San Diego. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to serve my community as well as my professional association, the American Physical Therapy Association.

My leadership experience includes serving as a member and past president of the Physical Therapy Board of California, as an Escondido City Councilmember, as chairman of the Escondido Chamber of Commerce, as president of both the Escondido and the Encinitas La Costa Rotary clubs, and as a board member and chairman of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego.

In 2004, I served on the campaign committee for Palomar-Pomerado Health District proposition BB, and later was instrumental in helping work out the differences between the City of Escondido and Palomar Pomerado Health that resulted in the city council's unanimous approval of the present site for the new hospital.

As a fiscal conservative, community leader, and healthcare professional, I can well serve taxpayers and consumers as a member of the Palomar Pomerado health District Board during this critical time in Palomar Pomerado Health's growth. I am asking you for the opportunity to do so.
