Rebecca Jones was appointed to the San Marcos City Council in January 2007 after then-Councilmember Jim Desmond was elected as Mayor in November 2006.

Rebecca serves as the San Marcos representative for the North County Dispatch Joint Power Authority and an alternate for the League of California Cities and SANDAG (San Diego Association of Governments). She also serves on the League of California Cities Safety Committee, SANDAG Energy Working group and the SANDAG Quality of Life Committee.

Dedicated to maintaining high quality of life in her community, Rebecca worked to find an alternative location for the Foster Care Reunification Center in La Moree Park and successfully supported the initiative to stop the development of a Wal-Mart on Rancho Santa Fe Road. She also worked to stop the Robertson's Ready Mix Concrete Plant off Nordahl.

Rebecca is an active advocate for public safety in San Marcos. Prior to her appointment, she petitioned the then-City Council to provide Megan's Law CDs and viewing hours at the San Marcos Sheriff's Substation. She also lobbied the Council to adopt an ordinance to strengthen Jessica's Law, which prohibits sex offenders from loitering where children congregate. The Council adopted this law in Spring 2007.

Additionally, she served as a member of the San Marcos Creek Specific Plan Task Force from 2005 to 2007 prior to being appointed to the City Council.

In addition to her duties as a full-time mother of two children, Rebecca operates a home entertainment furniture marketing company with her husband.

Councilmember Rebecca Jones resides in San Marcos with her husband Paul and their children.
