I am a life-long resident of East County. I have been married for 17 years and have four beautiful daughters. Two of my daughters, Margo and Madeline, attended W.D. Hall Elementary and now attend Greenfield Middle School.

My mother, Dalene Jensen, was a teacher who taught in the Cajon Valley District at both Lexington and Vista Grande Elementary. You may accuse me of bias, but mom is the best teacher I have ever met and is my inspiration. When I was in college at UCSD, I joined my mom and became a teacher's aide at Lexington Elementary School. I worked with second graders and third graders for three hours a day, helping children learn how to read and do basic math.

I graduated from California Western School of Law in 1994 and have since worked as a staff attorney at the San Diego Superior Court in East County. In that capacity, I do legal research and advise judges on matters pending before the court.

Education has always been personally important to me, and I believe in life-long learning for myself. I decided to study theology and, in 2004, graduated from Bethel Seminary, San Diego with a Masters in Divinity. My family and I attend First Presbyterian Church, San Diego, where I sing in the choir, occasionally teach and serve on the education committee.

My personal interests include reading, writing and music. During the Fall, you will find me on the soccer field, where I coach and referee with AYSO. At 5:30 a.m., at least three days a week, I swim with with Heartland Masters. I have done many events with Team-in-Training, the fundraising arm of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This organization is important to me because I am survivor of leukemia. I am proud to have raised over $7000 so far for cancer research through this organization.
