Darin Hunzeker was born on September 23, 1961, in Newport Beach, California. Hunzeker earned a BSEE from San Diego State University and an MSEE from UCLA in Electromagnetics. He has 8 years of work experience in military electronics and technologies. Hunzeker moved into commercial electronics for Omnipoint Communications, Inc. in 1992. He has 10 years of experience in management, design, and research and development in this field including Qualcomm, Kyocera, and Via Telecom. Hunzeker holds several patents from his years in electronics. Hunzeker began his own consulting business in 2001. Services included design as well as advising investors on start-up business viability and technologies. During the following years, he completed the Executive MBA program at San Diego State University and ran unsuccessfully against Susan Davis for the 53rd Congressional District. Hunzeker currently runs a small operation selling foreclosed property. Hunzeker's many years of science, engineering, and finance experience give him a unique ability to coordinate, manage, and sort through the large amounts of information required to understand complex issues. Hunzeker's main issues of focus are traditional education, individual attention through parental involvement,and fiscal responsibility + getting the money to the schools, not the bureaucracy. Darin Hunzeker has been a resident of Southern California for most of his 47 years, and he has been a San Diego resident for most of the last 28 years. He served for a year on the Rancho Penasquitos Town Council and has been active with the Republican Party of San Diego. Darin and his wife, Lisa, have been married for 17 years, and they have one child, Erin Leigh, 15.
