Lakeside Union School District Board member candidate Keith Hildreth Biography

Keith Hildreth was born in Plainview, Texas, and attended the first 3 years of elementary school at FMC Elementary in Beeville, Texas. His father, Charles, served in the U.S. Navy. Keith and his family moved to California in the early 1970's when his father was transferred to NAS North Island .His mother worked as a bookkeeper and a bank proofer-teller. Keith attended school at Imperial Beach Elementary and Harbor View Elementary continuing on to Mar Vista Junior High School and finally to Mar Vista High School where he graduated in 1979. Keith furthered his education at Cuyamaca College in El Cajon, and Southwestern College in Chula Vista, studying business and automotive technology.

Keith has lived in San Diego for the past 37 years, residing for the past seven years in the community of Lakeside. He and his wife Susan have been married for 24 years and have three children. The eldest is attending college while the other two are in High School in the Lakeside community.

The San Diego County Office of Education has employed Keith for the past 13years as an Auto-Mechanic II. He and his colleagues maintain a fleet of nearly 140 vehicles and other assorted equipment.

Keith has been actively involved in the community, is currently a Director for the Mother Goose Parade and has served as Vice President on the Lakeside National Little League Board, while coaching and umpiring for 5 years. He has also coached for a local youth football league (Lakeside Longhorns). In addition, he has coached a soccer team for AYSO. Keith has dedicated time to his daughter's school by coaching a Junior Varsity team of 5th and 6th grade girls continuing on to coaching the 7th & 8th grade Varsity girl's basketball team. He has also volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America program for several years; by helping young scouts to understand the importance of recycling and responsibility of taking care of your community. He has participated in the City Heights Neighborhood watch program, as well as many other public service activities to enhance the community.

Keith has received awards and recognition from parents and colleagues whose children have benefited from his hard work and dedication in the community. Not only has he been active with the children in the different communities that he has resided in, he continues to be an activist in the California School Employee Association. Keith continues to speak to Legislators about school funding .His involvement has grown over the years, from serving as CESA Chapter President to holding a state +level Regional Representative position. In June 2006, Keith was the proud recipient of the Victory Club Special Award for Region 97, and in June 2003 San Diego County Board of Education recognized Keith for his accomplishments. He also was the recipient of the member of the year awards both in 2003, in which his local chapter, and the San Diego Field Office presented both Awards.
