Reducing the Achievement Gap

By Beth Hergesheimer

Candidate for Board Member; San Dieguito Union High School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Reducing the Achievement Gap is a an important goal, and a complex issue.
Reducing the Achievement Gap is a an important goal, and a complex issue. Our district has actively pursued reducing the achievement gap by promoting access for all students to programs spanning the educational spectrum from support classes to honors courses, to arts and music, technical, and occupational coursework thus preparing students to succeed in either college and/or the workforce.

We have seen all of our schools make progress, but know that there are more gains to be made, best practices to share and implement among our campuses, and collaborative steps to be taken with our feeder elementary districts.

As an experienced board member, I believe I can support district efforts toward reducing the achievement gap and helping all of our students receive the quality education they deserve.
