Fair & Adequate State Funding

By Beth Hergesheimer

Candidate for Board Member; San Dieguito Union High School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Fair and adequate state funding is a key issue for the public school system.
Fair and adequate state funding is a key issue for the public school system. Ongoing state budget concerns and under-funded state and federally mandated programs are additional financial burdens that require our district continue to be fiscally frugal, keeping money as close to the classroom as possible while continuing to seek more stable and equitable funding.

During my years of School Board and PTA work I have traveled to Sacramento several times to lobby our State Legislators for fair and adequate funding. While serving on district and regional Legislative Action Committees, I have participated in and hosted local meetings with our legislators bringing funding and other issues concerning the education community to their attention.

The current State fiscal situation has required ever more diligence by our district regarding budget, expenditures, and programs. There is still much to be accomplished and there are many challenges to face. In these times of tight fiscal budgeting we need experience on our School Board.
