PUBLIC SAFETY

  • Continue to provide our First Responders with necessary tools to protect our citizens.
  • Continue to encourage our residents to partner with police through our E-Alert, and Neighborhood Blogs.
  • Support our Crime-Free Multi-Housing Program.
  • With my involvement in collaborating with former El Cajon Police Chief, Cliff Diamond, in regenerating our Neighborhood Watch Program, I will encourage neighborhoods to jump on board so they will benefit the "Know Your Neighbor" program.
  • With my involvement with other leaders in developing an East County Gang Task Force to serve East County, and by working with former El Cajon Police Chief, Cliff Diamond, in adding one El Cajon officer to the East County Gang Task Force, I will continue to advocate our involvement so the city will gain more assistance in this growing area of concern in California.
  • I will continue to search out new programs that will improve safety to our First Responders and to our citizens.
  • Support continuous updating of the "Comprehensive Disaster Preparedness Plan."
  • Prevent Teen Alcohol, Drug, and Tobacco Use.
  • Support our education to the public on fire safety.

TRANSPORTATION

Traffic and road conditions are of great concern to El Cajon residents. As a member of SANDAG and MTS, I am an advocate of public transportation. I am also fighting to ensure that our Trans Net contributions, which our citizens voted for, are returned to El Cajon in order to improve our streets.

Currently working with senior citizens on transportation solutions. Their involvement in this process is valuable.

ECONOMY/REDEVELOPMENT

Because El Cajon is built out to its borders, investing in redevelopment projects will stimulate our economy, provide long-term fiscal health, and provide high quality construction jobs. I will:

  • Provide a business friendly atmosphere
  • Create an aggressive task team to negotiate new business opportunities.
  • Continue my participation in Downtown Redevelopment
  • Encourage the expansion of revitalization projects
  • Promote El Cajon job growth
  • Encourage Public/Private Partnerships
  • Bring about local business awareness
  • Support El Cajon Community Development Corporation in expanding special events and revitalization in the downtown area.

NEIGHBORHOOD PRIDE
  • Continue to encourage residents to report graffiti to the hot-line.
  • Support our new "Your Property Looks Amazing" program to encourage business and property owners to help beautify our community to eliminate the "broken window" effect so it will entice visitors and business to our city.
  • Develop a solution to fight the illegal stealing of shopping carts from local businesses that not only costs the businesses money, but costs the citizens money when businesses raise prices to make up for their loss, not to mention the ugliness that the eventually abandoned carts cause.
