My TOP FOUR PRIORITIES based on constituent input, are:

SERVICE TO STUDENTS. As a believer in life-long learning, I will continue to work hard to ensure that MiraCosta meets the needs of students during difficult economic times. I believe that the College should revolve around students' needs, such as providing education in an age of rapidly-changing technology, offering skilled workforce training, affording opportunities to higher education, as well as ensuring a supportive learning environment where students thrive and develop their human potential.

ETHICAL LEADERSHIP IN THE PUBLIC'S INTEREST. This area is a primary demand placed on all elected public officials. I pledge to continue to be an ethical, open and transparent trustee. I value honesty and integrity and I am not beholden to single interests, nor am I afraid to vote my honest convictions.

After almost two and a half years of turmoil at the College, and listening to my constituents, the public wants a strong Board that works in the best interests of the College, students and the taxpayers of the District. They want policymakers that are guided by their commitment to the value of education and students, who are individuals of good character, well-informed and readily accessible, and who respond proactively to the ever-changing needs of the communities that they serve.

I am that trustee and if re-elected, I will continue my hard work in returning MiraCosta to its stellar position among California community colleges and regaining its position as an educational leader.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY. During my tenure as a trustee at MiraCosta, my focus has been consistent and straightforward: open, transparent, and responsible government. I am known for my commitment and dedication, in particular as a strong advocate for fiscal responsibility and accountability. As a business owner, I am critically aware of the fiscal impact made by the Board's decisions on the taxpayer, and I take my fiduciary duties as a steward of the public's funds seriously.

ACCESSIBILITY. I also believe that a public servant should always be accessible and accountable to the public. I will continue to make myself accessible and accountable to all constituents in the District and to meet with business and civic leaders to ensure the community's interests are kept in the forefront, while interacting with the college community in the spirit of collegial consultation. My name, address and phone number are listed in the phonebook and I would be happy to receive your emails, questions, concerns, opinions, at: vote.carranza.4.mcc@gmail.com.
