FOR COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION

K-12 education is fundamental for success. This success must show in the classrooms of today, and the workplaces of tomorrow. Our District needs new leadership, as the East County and inland North County communities continue to grow, and greater expectations are placed upon our teachers, parents, and students.

I believe the Governor and the Legislators should not balance the budget on the backs of our children.

The County Board of Education should be the catalyst for ensuring the State of California and our own local school districts find realistic alternatives to the current crisis.

California, as a separate economy, would rank in the top 10 nations of the world. That is something we should be proud of. At the same time, California students are 44th in the nation in 8th grade math scores and 49th in reading scores. That is something that must change, or that great economy we have will certainly fail. However, it will NOT change by firing teachers, increasing class size, privatization of public schools, eliminating early childhood education, and reducing health aides and nurses.

It will change when we make the commitment that our children are worth the investment in the future of California

With 15 years experience as a college instructor, my leadership will balance the needs of the students, teachers, and staff to ensure a dynamic learning, instructional, and service environment.

Working together, we can make the San Diego County educational process a model for the nation and one in which our communities will take pride.
