Public Safety

By Dave Allan

Candidate for Council Member; City of La Mesa

This information is provided by the candidate
La Mesa enjoys an an excellent reputation for public safety, and I will work to keep our community safe.
The La Mesa Fire Department keeps our citizens safe by providing paramedic services, safety inspections, weed abatement, public education for fire safety, disaster preparedness information, hazardous materials training and management, and medical emergency services as well as fire suppression.

The La Mesa Police Department patrols the streets utilizing full-time, part-time, and volunteer staff members. In addition to patrolling, volunteers conduct security checks and visit elderly and shut-in citizens as members of the Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol (RSVP). The Police Department also provides Animal Control services for both domesticated and wild animals.

Our citizens deserve to live in a community where we can feel safe to take a walk in the evening and enjoy the sunset and the view of Mt. Helix. We work hard so we can relax and participate in community events - Oktoberfest, Thursday evening Car Shows, Sunday Concerts in the Park, the Flag Day Parade - knowing that these will be fun, entertaining events, free from conflict and disruptive behavior.

Dave is committed to maintaining the fine reputation of our Police and Fire Departments. His experience in the fire service gives him the ability to assess the current condition of our public safety programs, and determine what steps need to be taken to improve them while maintaining financial responsibility.
