I am a mechanical engineer with a local high voltage electronics manufacturer, with 28 years of technical experience. I am also responsible for costs analysis and program funding for many projects affecting our military.

From 1998 through 2004 I served as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District. Three of those years I was appointed by my peers to serve as Board President.

I was especially proud that during my tenure as Board President, we held regular joint board meetings with Board members from Guadalupe, Orcutt and Santa Maria-Bonita, on finding ways to better assist our students become academically successful.

I was recognized as the 1995 - 1996 Parent of The Year by the Santa Maria-Bonita School District. During that time I was School Site Council President for El Camino Junior High.

As an active member of the Site Council I was the Chair for the Parents Uniform Committee, which was responsible for the introduction of school uniforms. After that success, the parent group was asked to assist with the parent groups of Guadalupe and Los Alamos, in their efforts to create their own school uniform program.

I also worked with the St. John Neumann's Church Parish Organizing Committee, where we worked alongside of Grace Lutheran and St. Peter's Episcopal church in addressing the shortage of afterschool activities for our youth.
