What will I do if elected?

By Jeff Randall

Candidate for Board Member; Dry Creek Joint School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Campaign promises can be a little hard to believe at times. This is what I want to do if you elect me to the school board.
If elected:

I plan on attending PTA meetings throughout the district, and I well encourage the other board members to do the same. If we each go to one PTA meeting a month, we should be able to get to all 10 schools 2-3 times a year. Parents need to have access to the board, and this is a great way for us to find out what they think.

I will set up an e-mail account, and use it to blast information to all interested parties in the district. If there is something that is going on, the community should know about it.

I will ask the administration of the district to make their web pages a little more user friendly. It is way to hard to find out information. Many parents have told me that they are concerned about the lack of progress in doing all the improvements promised by the recent passing of a school bond. We should have timetables posted on line so people don't feel like they are in the dark.

In the San Juan District, all teachers have web pages. Why is this not the case in Dry Creek? Perhaps it is a money issue, but I will look into this.

I will listen more, and talk less.

I will encourage more communication with the Teacher's Association. Board members and the teachers need to be on the same side. I would like to attend their meetings, to find out what they are thinking.

I will do everything in my power to protect the taxpayer's money. Schools are not free, and the residents of the district need to know that we are putting the emphasis on the classroom, and not to administrative overhead.
