Candidate for
Board Member; Galt Joint Union Elementary School District

John Gordon is an analyst for the California Department of Education's School Facilities Planning Division. He reviews architectural plans for new schools, renovation (modernization) and building addition projects to ensure they meet state standards. He also reviews new school site documentation to ensure the proposed school site meets health and safety standards. Finally, John oversees the Proposition 1D: Career Technical Education Facilities Program for the California Department of Education's School Facilities Planning Division. This $500 million program awarded grants to high schools to construct facilities and purchase equipment for their CTE programs.

John is married to Yvonne and has two children, Jordan and Kira, who currently attend River Oaks Elementary and McCaffrey Middle schools. They also attended Valley Oaks Elementary School.

Some of the activities John has participated with his children include :

  • Assisted the River Oaks chess club in 2007-2008.
  • Served as assistant coach for the County Line Soccer girls soccer teams from 2005-2007.
  • Chaperoned various field trips at Valley Oaks Elementary and River Oaks Elementary schools, including the Valley Oaks 5th grade trip to Angel Island in 2006.
  • Served as assistant coach for a Parks and Recreation youth baseball team in 2005.
