Katherine L. Albiani Candidate's Statement

By Katherine "Kay" Albiani

Candidate for Trustee; Los Rios Community College District; Area 7

This information is provided by the candidate
I know the importance of Community Colleges and will continue to work to fulfill their expanded roles and do so while demanding strong fiscal accountability.
During my tenure with Los Rios, I have been able to bring 26 years of education experience to help meet the needs of our rapidly growing Community College District.

In the past twelve years, I've helped Los Rios to complete projects at Folsom Lake College and Consumnes River College and build state of the art facilities. We've implemented career education, increased nursing graduates by 200%, developed partnerships with business and industry, improved curriculum to meet high tech needs, and are recognized as the most fiscally responsible and stable district in California.

As a businesswoman who understands bottom line economics, I have worked to meet the challenge of our rapidly growing Community College District at a time when demand for well-educated and technically qualified graduates is paramount.

I was elected President of California Community College Trustees and appointed by the Governor to the California Community College Board of Governors. In these roles, I helped Los Rios become California's premier Community College District.

As a parent of five university graduates, I know the importance of Community Colleges and will continue to work to fulfill their expanded roles and do so while demanding strong fiscal accountability.
