Smart Voter Political Philosophy for D. Allen "Allen" Pulsipher

Candidate for
Board Member; Temecula Valley Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate

As a Family we moved to Temecula in 2000. One of the reasons we chose Temecula, was the great reputation of the schools. As any parent would, I want the best education available, for my children. The opportunities for success are often times in front of us, and all we need to do is step forward and take the time and effort needed to learn and be successful.

The vision I see for the Temecula Valley Unified School District, builds upon the past successes and looks to the future for making things better. The following are what I would like to see as areas of focus that can accomplish my vision.

Continue to maintain the Safe Schools.

We have been fortunate and blessed to live in an area where safety in the schools has been maintained. I plan to maintain and develop policies that will keep our Schools Safe.

High Quality Teaching and Learning.

The Temecula Valley School board has set as their first goal to have high quality teaching and learning. We want the best teachers for our children. I believe this to be a priority and will continue to do all that I can to have our children taught at the highest level.

Accountability of your tax dollars.

I believe it is necessary that we put as much of our money towards the education of our children. Fiscal responsibility is essential if we are to continue to provide the best education in Riverside County and the state of California. While serving on the district's Budget Advisory Committee I became very familiar with the laws that limit the way funds can be spent. It is a very complex and convoluted system of unfunded mandates and lack of funding from the state. I will strive to work within the laws to provide a budget that benefits as many as possible.

Provide opportunities for all the Students.

Each child is different and has different talents, learning abilities and strengths. I would like to improve these opportunities in the following areas:

Career Path training- This would include technical, vocational, and professional training with a combined effort of the community, businesses and school district.

Academics- Provide more challenging courses for those who are planning to enter colleges and universities.

Performing and Fine Arts- Work with community groups and resources to provide opportunities for students with talents in these fields.

I hope you will join me in supporting the youth of today. I ask for your support in this election year.
