Rather than running for the water board position as a typical politician, I believe that my 12 years as a water conservation manager and a legislative advocate in the water industry need to be applied to the Division 5 position at the San Gorgonio Pass Water Agency. Following retirement, I have continued to do consulting work in water conservation. I will strive to bring these special skills to the Agency while encouraging local development of water resources.

In addition, my education and employment in business administration, industrial relations and organization management will enable me to be effective in developing water policy for the Pass Area in Riverside County.

There are four important issues I will work hard toward as a director: encourage efficient groundwater management, enhance local water supplies (including groundwater recharge facilities), promote drought management programs, and create more community awareness of water issues.

Probably one of the most important things I can bring to the table at the Pass Water Agency is to apply my resource program development skills toward getting a one-acre water-efficient conservation garden completed at the Edward-Dean Museum complex located in Cherry Valley. I will continue to encourage the Pass Water Agency to apply for special grants from the State Department of Water Resources and other agencies to combine with the $100,000 already promised toward the project from District 5 Riverside County Supervisor, Marion Ashley.

I'm proud to have co-authored Riverside County's recently enacted Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance, which now requires conservation-oriented plantings and irrigation systems for all new homes, as well as for both public and private commercial development throughout the County.

My wife, Diane, and I reside in Calimesa and attend Trinity in the Pass Church in Beaumont. We have two grown children, Pam and Scott, and a grandson, Alex.

You will not go wrong by voting for a team player and a problem solver with high integrity.
