Sharon J. Jackson, M.Ed., MBA Consultant to Health Care Organizations Brief Biography

Sharon J. Jackson is a specialist in health care change management, and market and sales strategies with over 25 years of experience as health executive and consultant. She has expertise in planning and guiding change, market analysis, business and market planning and program development and management for both private and Medicaid systems. Ms. Jackson melds her background in counseling, business, and organization development into a comprehensive understanding of both organizational and market dynamics for analysis and planning to meet organizational goals.

Ms. Jackson is President of Health Marketing & Management, a health care consulting firm, from its founding in 1984 until 2000. Her clients have included hospitals, health care systems, group practices, HMOs, PPOs, self-insured employers, non profit agencies, EAPs, patient advocacy societies, and the Behavioral Health Institute. She had responsibility for oversight and coordination of the consulting practice. She was specifically responsible for ensuring that client needs were met in the most efficient and timely manner possible within the constraints of each consulting agreement.

The firm provided services in the following areas: market research and analysis, managing change to meet emerging requirements, community relations, strategic and business planning. All clients were adapting to rapidly changing market requirements.

Since 1992 Ms. Jackson has served as Adjunct Professor for the University of San Francisco, teaching courses in health care marketing, health issues and service delivery in organized delivery systems. Jackson began her work in public education and policy development using strategies adapted from marketing and advertising to educate both the public and policy makers.

Beginning in 2000, she has also taught Taiwanese health care professionals in a special graduate program at Dominican University. Ms. Jackson has completed course work on her doctoral dissertation and has advanced to candidacy. Her dissertation is on the leadership practices of the CEOs of the top 100 hospitals, as selected by HCIA Solucient.

A Magna cum Laude scholar with masters' level credentials in counseling and business, and with doctoral studies in organization policy and leadership nearing completion, Sharon Jackson is recognized as a leader in her field. In 2004 she was elected to the Marin Healthcare District Board of Directors and became its Chair in Dec. 2006.

She has a long history of community involvement and leadership, serving as President of both the California Association of Local Mental Health Boards and the Marin County Mental Health Board. She is past President the Marin Women's Commission, Artisans Gallery, and other local and state boards. She is listed in Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Finance and Industry, of American Women, in Professional and Executive Women, and in the World.
