Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Susan J. Hartley

Candidate for
Councilmember; City of Santa Monica

This information is provided by the candidate

Santa Monica is at a crossroads. I want to do everything I can to see Santa Monica retain what's left of its small beach town atmosphere. Santa needs to walk like it talks. It needs to become a real sustainable city. I'm opposed to the growth, density and height being proposed by City Council and staff. Santa Monica's urban forest is being destroyed, resulting in dire environmental consequences for us all. Santa Monica Airport is spewing fumes daily into the neighboring areas. Santa Monica beaches are labeled the worst on the continental west coast. More needs to be done to insure excellence in education and equal educational opportunity for all students in our schools.

City Hall and City Council are not listening to the residents of Santa Monica. That needs to change. Santa Monica belongs to the residents. We need to take back our City!
