Candidate Statement

By Greg Geeting

Candidate for Member; Sacramento County Board of Education; Trustee Area 1

This information is provided by the candidate
With more than 30 years' experience in education, I can help the Sacramento County Office of Education maintain its leadership position.
The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) is highly regarded throughout California and the nation. If elected to the Sacramento County Board of Education, my goal will be to support SCOE in maintaining its leadership position. I pledge to work cooperatively and creatively with SCOE's outstanding management and staff toward that end.

Recently retired, I have more than 30 years' experience in education, including curriculum, instruction, administration, student services, and school finance. I worked mostly for the California Department of Education (including service as legislative representative, consultant, and administrator) and the California State Board of Education (including service as the Board's Executive Director).

I am a native of Sacramento. I am a graduate of El Camino High School (1970) and California State University Sacramento (1974). I recently completed my Master's in Public Administration (2005) at the Sacramento campus of the University of San Francisco. My children attended neighborhood schools of the Sacramento City Unified School District, and my daughter is currently enrolled in District's special education program.

Through my experience and educational background, I believe I can be helpful to SCOE and to the Sacramento County Board of Education.

I would sincerely appreciate your vote in the June election.
