Shall Resolution No. 8 of the Board of Commissioners of Mesa Park be confirmed, establishing a special tax of $45 per year per improved parcel, commencing with fiscal year 2008-2009 and continuing for a period of 4 years for the maintenance and operation of a public park, and shall the appropriations limits be confirmed in the amount equal to the tax revenues received by this parcel tax?

Impartial Analysis
If this Measure is approved by a two-thirds vote, Resolution No. 8 of the Board of Commissioners of Mesa Park (formerly known as Firehouse Community Park Agency) establishing a special tax of Forty-Five Dollars ($45.00) per improved parcel for the maintenance and operation of a public park, commencing in fiscal year 2008-2009 and continuing for a period of four (4) years, shall be confirmed and the appropriations limit for the entity will be established in an amount equal to the tax revenues received as a result of the parcel tax.

Arguments For Measure E
For the last four years, Mesa Park has been operated and maintained with funds from an annual parcel tax of $36 per improved parcel. Voter authorization is now required to continue a parcel tax for another 4 years. The costs of labor, utilities and insurance have all gone up, and with additional costs such as the skatepark, the current tax is not sufficient.

Although not everyone uses the park, the same is true with schools, libraries, paramedics and other tax supported community services.

The park provides a much needed place for our children and young people to play, and at $45 per parcel, it will cost each property owner less than $4 per month. Please keep our parks open and operating. Vote YES on Measure E.
