This information is provided by the candidate

I firmly believe that an outstanding public education is now more essential than ever to ensuring a well informed, open-minded, productive and collaborative society. I am committed to ensuring that the Portola Valley schools continue to exemplify and advance that ideal.

I believe that an education is measured not only by the information it transmits, but by the lifelong love of learning it imparts.

As a physician and medical researcher, I have come to appreciate that a fact-base constantly changes, but the value of critical thinking and creative problem solving does not.

As a father of two young children, I understand how important high-quality schools are to defining our community, our values and our future.

As a resident in the heartland of the digital revolution, I clearly understand the central importance of a strong educational foundation in languages, mathematics and science.

However, I also recognize the irreplaceable importance of the performing and visual arts!

. The arts nurture collaboration, creativity and self-confidence; essential traits for success in our global society.

I believe that my background, values, commitment and compassion make me an ideal candidate for your Portola Valley Schools' Governing Board. I am asking for your vote of support.
