Board Member; Mill Valley School District

What I will do:

  • Work proactively, with fiscal responsibility and in collaboration with the community, to address issues of increased student enrollment, facilities upgrading and energy efficiency

  • Work to strengthen our academic programs, imparting a passion for learning, facilitating creativity and critical thinking, aiming for long-term achievement. Work to develop a rational homework policy

  • Help to establish a greatly improved science program and support environmental education

  • Support programs that enhance the life skills of students, including service learning, and respect and safety programs

  • Ensure that our children's education takes place in a safe and nurturing environment, where every child is treated equally and with respect by teachers and peers

  • Ensure accountability and transparency in the School District and the Governing Board

What I believe:

  • School Board members should be sensitive and responsive to the needs of children, parents, teachers and staff, and they should be readily accessible

  • The School Board should run its meetings in an atmosphere of openness and sincere collaboration with members of the community, and actively encourage participation
