Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Domenick Cicatelli

Candidate for
Mayor; Village of Port Chester

This information is provided by the candidate

Overcrowding. Should not be department specific. It should be the responsibility of Police, Fire , DPW , Sanitation and building dept. with all departments having the authority to issue a summons for an observed violation. I will institute a tenant registry for all dwelling 3 family or more and force annual inspections to be done by above departments. I will make absentee landlord accountable to our codes and enforce this with strict fines. I will centralize the complaint process bringing it into the village managers office and create accountability and timely follow-up.

Department of Justice. I am in favor of pursuing the case to the appeal level if necessary. I believe the Government plan will divide and segregate a village which has been a true melting pot for a better life since its beginning. Diversity in government is essential and should be prioritized but the methods to get there should be well thought out to be inclusive and fair to the entire community and insulate PC from litigation in the future and not forced on us by the government who did a quick drive through and carved our community into 6 tiny pieces. We should not only be concerned about the money spent on this case by the village tax payer but be concerned what a hasty decision by village officials to settle this case can cost the tax payer in the future.(what if it the wrong plan).

Development. Port Chester has seen more interest in development by large developers than it has since 1975 when the RB&W property on Midland ave. Was sold. Some believe a Building moratorium would be good to put in place until our comprehensive plan update is completed (16+ months). I do not favor a moratorium. I believe that we as a village and make intelligent decisions base on data furnished by our professional staff for smart development for our community. I believe that a moratorium would be a bad message to people who want to invest in our village and be a detriment to tax payers. The way to expand the tax base is through development and redevelopment of under utilized properties.
