Questions & Answers

1. New York State Legislators did not address the pending CFE (Campaign for Fiscal Equity) suit during the 2006 session. What would you propose to expedite the resolution of the CFE case?*

I support a resolution to the CFE suit that ensures that Upstate schools receive the state aid they rightfully deserve. I believe New York should adopt the school aid formula developed by the Midstate School Consortium. This formula is simple, transparent, cost effective, and would provide districts with the appropriate level of state assistance.

2. The Assembly has passed legislation that would allow New York State to buy drugs in bulk from drug companies and pass the savings on to low income and uninsured citizens in the form of an Rx discount card. Do you support this legislation? Why or why not?*

I support bill A.6336-B/S.5029-A, the Prescription Drug Assistance Program bill. During my time in the State Legislature, I have consistently fought to ensure that all New Yorkers have access to affordable prescription drugs. Additionally, I am a cosponsor of S.696-E, a bill requiring the disclosure of gifts from pharmaceutical companies to medical professionals, and I am the sponsor of the Prescription Privacy Act, a bill prohibiting drug companies from receiving personal and private patient drug information.
