1. Public education is financed through property taxes and state funds. What other means of raising revenue would you support?*

Answer from Alfred D. Cooper, Sr.:

I believe the citizens of our state and county have been sufficiently taxed for education expenditures. I believe any new taxes ought to come from federal revenue sharing or industry use taxes.

Answer from Thomas W. Alfano:

I would support a comprehensive overhaul of public education funding in New York State. I strongly support regional costs and credits for public lands, which may take away taxable parcels for school districts.

2. Legislative districts have been determined on a partisan basis. Would you support establishing an independent commission as a more open and ethical way to create the districts? Please explain.*

Answer from Alfred D. Cooper, Sr.:

I believe legislative districts ought to be based on demographics. If necessary, I would support the creation of an independent commission.

Answer from Thomas W. Alfano:

I support independent commissions and public input on the redistricting process.
