Smart Voter Official Statement for David S. Stecher

Candidate for
Board Member, 4 Year; West Sonoma County Union High School District

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

My name is David Stecher; a year ago I was appointed to fill a vacant position on the West Sonoma County Union High School District Board of Trustees.

I have participated in a variety of School and District activities for a number of years, including the District's Budget Advisory Group, the Measure K parcel tax committee, and the committee which interviewed candidates for Superintendent. I was a founding member of the Gravenstein Schools Foundation, worked on the Analy High School Theatre Renovation Project, and have worked on Project Graduation.

I think that the West Sonoma County Union High School District should explore additional ways of saving money and sharing services with other West County Schools, that the curriculum should be as broad as possible to prepare our students for college and/or the workforce, that special needs students should receive the most appropriate educational setting possible, and that a unified school district should only be created if it is cost effective, enhances curriculum, and satisfies the needs of the local communities.

With your support I will continue to work with the other members of the Board of Trustees, the District and School administrations, credentialed and certified staff, students, employee organizations, and the community to provide the highest quality education possible. Thank you.
