Smart Voter Official Statement for Wanda Smith

Candidate for
Board Member, 4 Year; Sweetwater Springs Water District

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

I am an incumbent Board Member and, as current Board President, I have improved the effectiveness and efficiency of Sweetwater Board meetings, policies, and decisions. I was able to accomplish these goals because of my prior experience: on university and medical research Boards, managing engineering at high tech companies for 26 years, as founder and President of an engineering consulting company for 7 years, and training at Stanford University Engineering Graduate School. My family has had property on the Russian River and been involved in River issues since 1954. My father was a founding Board member and officer of the Russian River Home Owners Association; my mother was an advisor on River fishing environments. Following family tradition, I have been active in local issues including defeating environmentally harmful development along the River. I believe that water is the most important natural resource and commodity of the district and that the Board of Directors' top priority is to establish sound fiscal policies so that Sweetwater Springs Water District can deliver safe water and appropriately address the water needs of its customers.
