Board Member; North Sonoma County Hospital District

Healthcare has been my principle occupation until a few years ago when I took a position as chief accountant for Brutocao Vineyards in Hopland. Cloverdale has been my home for over 18 years, but I will move to Healdsburg this fall. I have been on the Boards of the Cloverdale Healthcare District for 12 years and the Alexander Valley Regional Medical Center for 4 years, where we recently turned around a financial disaster into a self-sufficient medical clinic. In the 1970's I was Vice President of American Medical International when it acquired Healdsburg Community Hospital. I was administrator of Lakeside Hospital in Lakeport and reimbursement director for Blue Cross during the birth of Medicare. I served as President of the Federation of American Hospitals and was appointed to many national healthcare panels.

I have been both an impatient and outpatient of Healdsburg Hospital. I believe I can assist Healdsburg Hospital in providing the best medical care for our citizens and help to assure its long tenure. The immediate planning is extremely important to the future success of the hospital, and my experience in supervising the financial health of over 50 different hospitals can be put to good use. r.samsel@comcast.net
