Smart Voter Official Statement for E. J. Neil

Candidate for
Board Member; North Sonoma County Hospital District

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

In January 2006, I was elected by board members to be chairman of the Healdsburg Hospital District Board. My current term began by appointment in 2004 to replace a member who had moved. Before this, I had been active in the passage of Measure G, and a strong hospital supporter. My work background was in the computer industry, managing complex projects with diverse groups of people.

My reason to serve on the Board was motivated by a personal experience. The Healdsburg Hospital saved the life of a friend who had gone into anaphylactic shock. If the hospital and its outstanding staff had not been close by, and we had to travel to Santa Rosa, he would have very likely died. The message to me is clear: local, good quality healthcare saves lives and is vital to the people of the North Sonoma County Healthcare District.

Currently I own and manage a vineyard in Dry Creek Valley. My wife, Judy Edmonds, and I try to be good stewards of the land and contributing members of the community.

If elected, I pledge to continue to work to improve the quality of healthcare in the district.
