Smart Voter Official Statement for John Mills

Candidate for
Council Member; City of Petaluma

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

Petaluma needs a City Councilmember who will get things done and continue the work that has made Petaluma a wonderful place to live. As a County Parks Commissioner and Petaluma Planning Commissioner I have worked toward that goal. I have the experience and passion to guide Petaluma now and into the future.

I'll fight for much needed upgrades to our transportation system. We've made progress, but the effort needs to be intensified until our streets are in good condition, a cross-town connector has been added, the 101 widening project is completed, and a sensible mass transit program is developed.

I'll work to balance new growth so that our environment, hillsides and small-town charm are preserved for future generations. I believe in providing jobs, housing, shopping and parks for hardworking Petaluma families. We need innovative ways to ensure that our children and seniors can afford to live here.

I'll work to ensure that Petaluma's flood plains are protected. I support an increase in public safety staffing in order to protect our families from gangs, drugs and other crime.

I will bring proven leadership and a community-first attitude to the City Council. I respectfully ask for your vote. Thank you
