Smart Voter Official Statement for Douglas W. "Bikeman" McKesson

Candidate for
Council Member; City of Sonoma

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

Four years ago I was elected to the Sonoma City Council and currently serve as mayor. I have consistently worked to maintain a healthy balance between the historic nature of our town and the needs of the community. As a business owner, I weigh the fiscal impact of decisions on our quality of life. The results of my participation on the council include: improved Police and Fire service, a reduction in the number of houses that can be built each year, and the implementation of building requirements that respect the size and scale of existing neighborhoods.

A new general plan is being adopted. It will give us guidelines to control and preserve the quality of life we currently enjoy and insure it remains available for future generations. Penny, my wife of 37 years, and I have lived in Sonoma since 1975 and both work tirelessly for the community.

I would like the opportunity to serve Sonoma for another four years. I have done the homework, shown unflagging energy, a willingness and leadership to moderate and build consensus necessary to achieve long-term goals for the future of Sonoma.

For this I ask for your vote.

Sincerely,

Doug "Bikeman" McKesson
