Jeanne Bassett Fernandes

My roots to West County extend from my Grandmothers graduation from this District; carry on through my graduation and that of both my children. As a parent, I quickly found that for education to expand beyond the basics, it had to be fought for. For me, that fight began, with the '98 parcel tax campaign, followed by my appointment to the High School board.

During my board tenure I have witnessed the modernization of this District with a new Science Wing at Analy, a new Library at El Molino, expanded ROP programs and state of the art athletic facilities. With an eye on the future, I supported District-wide upgrades to infrastructure, a solar project at Analy and hi-tech, energy efficient roofing at El Molino.

As good as all that is, there is so much more to be fought for. We must continue to work with our West County partner districts to explore sharing of services and to reduce transportation costs. We must prepare our students to be respectful, productive, life-long learners. We must offer safe/caring environments, that are diverse and promote academic excellence.

Our students' education and preparation for the future must be our community's top priority. With your support we can work together to secure a solid foundation for that future. Your vote on Nov. 7th is appreciated!
