Smart Voter Official Statement for John Durr

Candidate for
Board Member; West Sonoma County Union High School District

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

Having served for 6 years as a trustee of the Piner-Olivet Union School District, with two terms as president, I understand the challenges of providing a high quality education to students. I graduated from Analy High School in 1973 and then worked for a number of large, small and family owned businesses for over 20 years until I returned to school and became an attorney in 2000.

My parents were an elementary school principal and a high school teacher; this coupled with my school board experience, prepares me to get right to work. I know what students, teachers, parents and the community want from their schools and how to set policy and use budgeting to get it.

My wife and I have two children; one is a sophomore at Analy and the other is a recent high school graduate. As a parent I understand the desire to get the best education for our children. This is for both students headed to college or into the work world.

I have experience as a trustee as well as being a parent, a taxpayer and a practicing attorney. I am asking for your support in helping to improve education in the West County.
