BLUFFS and COAST LINE--INFRA STRUCTURE ALL AROUND

By Brahama D. Sharma, Ph D

Candidate for Council Member; City of Pismo Beach; 4 Year Term

This information is provided by the candidate
The preservation of BLUFFS is not just the responsibility of Coastal Commission, City of Pismo Beach can and should take responsibility.
The BLUFFS are primarily the ends of the streets in the area known as SHELL BEACH.
  • These streets are not conventional city streets. This leads to water run off during rainy season. The WATER FALLS are created. We know what continous dripping of water, let alone the WATER FALLS, do to the sides and floors below from heights like the BLUFFS. The base erodes, the sides erode, the tops erode, eventually the BLUFFS give way, as is happening.

  • It is time, to start putting in very sturdy storm drains under the surface of the streets in beautiful Shell Beach Area, without changing the present looks. Extend these drains with designed outlets down the BLUFFS to make the run off go to the ocean.

  • Get the Coastal Commission buy into this plan by matching funds.

  • Start plasnning for the INFRASTRUCTURE for the entire city, one and only one city nanmed PISMO BEACH, irrespective where we live. Let us not create artificial divides by labeling , SOUTH of Creek, NORTH of Creek, or Pismo Heights etc.. We are in it together.
  • Not only plan but assure continous maintenance.

  • Get the oil pipe lines surveyed and make sure the oil companies pay their share.
  • Make sure the heavy commercial traffic pays fair share for the wear tear of our streets.
