Dr. John M. Rajcic....Board candidate-debate night...10/12/06

Most parents entrust their children to public schools...many of us have been influenced by a dedicated teacher ...

We tend to overlook those important people that drive the buses, keep the school secure, provide a healthy school environment, and maintain the grounds and a myriad of other functions...

I have not asked for the support of any political party or special interest group... This is a non-partisan office...

I have no hidden agendas and merely want to do the right thing....one should not be content with the status quo......

As a fiscal conservative, I am a friend of the taxpayer...the taxpayers I know are not against kids or the classroom... they want the best for the classroom....

We must maintain a quality comprehensive high school..our facilities have improved over the years...and our new principal's attitude is great...one person can make a difference..we must challenge the staff and students to be all they can be... academic excellence should be more than phrase or a poster on the wall...mandated testing and getting an education are not mutually exclusive we can and must have both...

We should support our teachers and principals and maximize resource flow to the classroom...basically keep the focus on the classroom.

The board and administration must be receptive to community concerns and encourage parent involvement in their schools. There must be trust between the parents and the administration...

It is mandatory that we maintain safe, wholesome, and very secure schools...safety concerns must be handled in such away that our students are not under a cloud of fear...

We must stress health and physical fitness for the entire community.

We must maintain a strong financial base ...without which everything crumbles..The retirement of the $25,000,000 Certificate of Deposit (loan) used in part to build and renovate schools will posse a financial problem ... relying on developer fees and a bond issue for retirement of the loan is questionable....this coupled with declining enrollment, deficit financing and the incremental creep in salary schedule is very problematic... Financial concerns are upon us..declining enrollment alone is a major financial set-back...the loss of 200 students means the loss of $1,200,000...Check this out on the district's web..look for the Fiancial Crisis and Management Assistant Team's Report...or ask the Business manager for a copy...this is not spin this is fact...

We should guard against being victims of group think...do not self silence yourself many times contrary views save the day...

Have an open mind, gather the facts and vote...

We are thankful to those that arranged this forum and a double thanks to you that showed up...Ramona is a great place....

Connie and I have two grandchildren in our schools and are 12 year residents...

Many have asked... "What do I know about education? I taught in high school and at the university...I have been deputy superintendent of schools in the Irvine Unified School District... I am a certified CBO that is a Chief school business official.I have a daughter that is a teacher..

I have life teaching and administration credentials and have a PhD in Education from the Claremont Graduate School.....a Master Degree from USC and a BA from the University of Minnesota..

Additionally I have had extensive educational experience in the military and in business...

I have written many editorials and articles on education and am deeply interested in education...we must win this human race called education....

My family supports many programs and activities in our community...

One always has a great case until the other side is heard... all candidates have a case .....It is up to you the jury in our great republic to determine who should represent you on the board.

I believe in God, Country and family values...Our family values center on cohesion, loyalty, education, integrity, circle the wagons when someone is in trouble... supporting and loving one another.

We are thankful that we have programs where all children have opportunities to learn...... In the final analysis education is growth and an end in itself.

I am not a micro-manager...but we must hold staff accountable...

Our children are 20% of our population but 100 % of our future...Please go to my web site Jrajcic.com for details on my education, experience, and philosophy.. My web site, is structured so you may ask questions or comment...or call me I am in the book...

I would be honored to be your representative on the Board.

Thanks much...
